Meditation on Scripture: Directing Our Hearts to and Staying on the Path | Psalm 119:9-16, Colossians 3:16 and Philippians 4:9.

Here is the link to a simple framework for biblical meditation

Meditation on God’s Word serves as our spiritual GPS, directing us and keeping us on the right path. This practice has deep roots in Christian tradition, offering a transformative approach to engaging with Scripture beyond mere reading.

Throughout history, devoted Christians have practiced scriptural meditation. William Wilberforce (1759-1833), the British politician who championed the abolition of the slave trade, recorded in his journal: “Walked from Hyde Park Corner repeating the 119th Psalm in great comfort.” His meditation on Scripture sustained him through his long struggle against abolishing slavery and provided spiritual nourishment during challenging times.

Biblical Meditation: What it is. It’s chewing on a Bible text, analyzing that passage, turning it over and around in one’s thoughts…

Mental planning for action...directing your thoughts of Scripture towards walking in godly paths.

  • Not emptying the mind, but filling it with God's truth from Scripture

  • Thoughtfully chewing on the biblical text, analyzing and turning it over in your mind.

  • Reading Scripture slowly and repeatedly, allowing words to sink into your soul (soaker hose)

  • Prayerful consideration, reflection and application of Scripture.

  • Engaging our head and hearts with Scripture to deepen our relationship with God.

  • We meditate on Scripture for and with other Christians to share and grow in Christ.

Someone has put it this way: Read or listen to Scripture to get the information. Study it to get the meaning. Meditate on God’s word to get the true benefit, which is godly transformation.

Why not choose a short passage and meditate on it this week. Chew on it, pray it, apply it, speak it, let it move from head to heart as it soaks in deeply.

Then put your hands to work living out the truth you’ve absorbed.

Gospel Partner of the Month: Cuba | Predica Fiel
In our approach to missions at High Pointe, we not only seek to send our best, but we also want to equip and encourage those who are already serving in the field. One of the ways to do that is to provide training for national pastors and missionaries. Predica Fiel is a training ministry that equips pastors, missionaries, and church leaders in expositional teaching and preaching. They provide training workshops throughout the island of Cuba and the Spanish-speaking world.

Please pray that the Lord will give them favor and fruitfulness in their work. Pray that the Lord would grant them continued opportunities to train pastors, missionaries, and teachers. And pray that the Lord would provide all the resources they need to do their work.

On-Call Pastor
To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
