What To Expect

From the moment you step through the doors at High Pointe, we want you to encounter the beautiful gospel of Jesus Christ. That's why each section of our service is designed to move you closer and closer to our Savior's cross. Sunday mornings begin with a call to worship, which builds into a time of singing praises to our God. After one of our pastors leads us in a time of corporate prayer we will sing one more song and hear the Word of God read. For safety reasons, giving back to God a portion of what He has blessed us with can be placed in the black boxes near the main entrance of the auditorium. To hear how God speaks into our lives, we turn to his Word through the sermon. Followed by a time of corporate response through song. After the sermon, we respond with a time of covenant renewal where we together declare the essentials of our Christian faith and take the Lord's Supper. We end our services with a response of praise and by receiving God's good blessings again for his people. These times together serve to remind us that God has made sinners like us, saints called to be like him. That is why Sunday mornings at High Pointe are, and will always be, about the gospel.

WORSHIP IS A WAY OF LIFE

Whatever we do and say we do it all to the glory of God. Moreover, the high point in this life of worship occurs
each week when we assemble as a congregation for the privilege of uniting our voices in a planned service that allows us to worship God corporately.
The following is a list of emphases we strive to achieve in our public worship services:

GOD-WARD IN FOCUS

We gather for the purpose of worshipping the one and only God—our Creator, Sustainer, Redeemer, and Friend. Consequently, nearly everything we do is focused on acknowledging and celebrating His greatness—especially His gracious display of love to us in the gospel. He alone is the Audience for whom we perform.

CONGREGATIONAL IN ORIENTATION

We gather for the purpose of worshipping corporately—just as God Himself desires. This is why our prayers, confessions, and singing are most frequently offered to Him in the first person plural: “Our Father . . . We believe . . . We confess . . .”

PASSIONATE IN EXPRESSION

We gather for the purpose of worshipping passionately, actively engaging our intellect, emotions, and body. Moreover, given the life‐transforming implications of the gospel, joy is the primary quality that distinguishes our congregational praise.

GOSPEL IN STRUCTURE

We gather for the purpose of worshipping in a manner that rehearses the gospel, employing a format shaped by the contours of Christ’s redeeming work. Since worship is our response to His loving provision, nothing is more honoring of His grace than making its themes our own.

CLASSICAL AND CONTEMPORARY IN STYLE

We gather for the purpose of worshipping with a style that is both classical and contemporary. We borrow from the church’s worship in the past—employing ancient creeds, historic confessions, and time‐honored music—while affirming our own distinct culture. Our worship is an indigenous and contemporary expression of our ancient faith.

BIBLICAL IN BOUNDARY

We gather for the purpose of worshipping “by the book,” putting to use various components of worship found in the Scriptures. These principal elements include: prayer, singing, reading and preaching the Bible, the sacraments (baptism and the Lord’s Supper), and the giving of offerings.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What about children?

At High Pointe, we love for families to worship together! If you would like for your children to remain in the service with you, we think that is great! If you need to step out momentarily with your children, we offer a Family Overflow Room with a live feed located on the second floor in the Livingston Room. In addition, we provide other opportunities for children to learn on Sunday morning. More than just babysitting, we seek to teach our children about Jesus and help them grow to love and follow him. If you would like, right before the sermon, children (K-3rd grade) are dismissed to KidsPointe. For younger children (8 months  to  pre-K), we have nursery classes that take place during the service.

Do you have other service times?

In addition to our regular Sunday morning gatherings, we meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays at 5:00 pm for a prayer service. This is different from our Sunday morning service.

Where do I park?

We have reserved some convenient parking spaces for guests. Enter the driveway from Dessau Road and take a left into the parking lot. If you require handicap-accessible parking, follow the parking lot around to the right. If you prefer to drop off your passengers before parking, please keep right as you enter the parking area and proceed to the covered drop-off at the front doors.

What should I wear?

Our worship services are pretty casual. Some people dress up a bit, while many others simply wear jeans and a t-shirt. Our belief is that God cares much more about the condition of our hearts than our external appearance. If you join us for a service, please feel free to dress however you feel comfortable.
