Members’ Meeting this Sunday Night 5:00 PM
One of the privileges of our church’s polity (elder-led congregationalism) is that it is the whole church’s responsibility to care for one another. We do that in a number of ways throughout the life of High Pointe. One specific way we care for one another is our members’ meetings.
We hold members’ meetings every other month (February, April, June, August, October, and December). Members’ meetings are the times when we do family business. Think of them as family meetings where we talk about important matters that affect the whole family.
Biblically, we hold to the conviction that the entire church has the final authority, under Christ, to affirm its membership, doctrine, and leadership. That means it is the congregation together that receives and removes members. It is the congregation together that affirms what we believe and must approve any changes to our statement of faith and practices. It is the congregation together that recognizes and affirms its elders. And it is the congregation together that recognizes and affirms individuals to serve in specific ways in the church (deacons). Beyond that, the elders also inform the congregation of other important data that affects the entire congregation: budget, financial updates, ministry reports, mission partner updates, etc.
As you can see, members’ meetings are an important part of congregational life at High Pointe. And that is why we strongly encourage your participation. This coming members’ meeting, we will do what we always do – care for our members who are leaving, welcome new members, and consider how to care for members in special cases. Additionally, we will give an encouraging financial report related to our regular giving. We will also give an encouraging update on the state of our debt.
The Lord is good! And he has been overwhelmingly good to High Pointe. Join us this Sunday night to hear about the wonderful things the Lord is doing in and through us.
DON’T FORGET:
