Summer Preaching Series July 9-30

The High Pointe summer preaching series has become a real highlight for all of us. For four weeks during the summer, we invite like-minded preachers to share God’s word from our pulpit. There are several reasons we do this. First, we want you to hear the same gospel from other faithful men. We hope to encourage you that the word is being faithfully preached by other men in other churches.

Secondly, we want to remind you that the Lord’s church is not built on one preacher or pastor. A time will come when High Pointe will search for its next senior pastor. We aim to introduce you to as many faithful men as possible so that you will be confident that the Lord, indeed, has many faithful servants.

Finally, the summer preaching series allows me to be a regular member and sit under the word with you. The primary role you have called me to fill is to preach the word and order our gatherings. Consequently, the main way I seek to care for you is to prepare weekly sermons that teach the word, exalt Christ, and build up the church.  Each week, my Monday begins with the following Sunday in view. This rest from weekly sermon preparation allows me time to think, pray, and plan for our future.

Join us this summer as we welcome the following brothers to our pulpit. Starting next week, we will introduce each of these brothers in greater detail:

9 July | Geoff Chang, Curator, The Spurgeon Library, Assistant Professor of Historical Theology

16 July | Ben Lacey, Lead Pastor, Trinity River Baptist Church, Fort Worth, Texas

23 July | Ligon Duncan, Chancellor, Reformed Theological Seminary

30 July | Omar Johnson, Lead Pastor, Temple Hills Baptist Church, Temple Hills, Maryland

Giving at High Pointe
God is generous, and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God in every area of our lives, including what we do with our finances. But as you may have noticed, we do not take up a collection on Sundays at High Pointe. Consequently, we’ve been receiving questions as to how to give. There are several ways you may give:
  1. Offering Boxes in Auditorium – You may place your offering in an offering box.
  2. Mail – You may mail your contribution to the church office.
  3. Text/Online – You may give by texting 84321 (it will require a first-time setup).
  4. Your Bank – You may give through your own bank via Bill Pay or ACH.

IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING MAIL SERVICE: We are having issues with the U. S. Postal Service. Our mailbox was vandalized, so we have to manually pick up the mail at the post office. Unfortunately, mail delivery is backed up, and, for example, we have not received any mail this week. Please be patient with us as we try to resolve the best way to receive mail. In the meantime, you may want to give through a more direct means: offering box, texting, online.

If you have any questions, go to this LINK. Our financial staff is also available to help or answer your questions. You may call the church office at 512-837-7725.

On-Call Pastor
To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.

Preaching Schedule: Pray regularly for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, prepare for our gatherings by reading the sermon text, thinking it through, and asking questions about the text before Sunday. Here is a preaching schedule designed to help you prepare for Sundays:

2 July | Romans 9:14-23
Why Does He Still Find Fault?

Resources of the Week

  • 7 Reasons Why Your Church Should Engage in Door to Door Evangelism
    • Once a month, we seek to engage our neighbors with the gospel. While the efforts may not seem as fruitful as we would like, there are helpful reasons to continue. Hopefully, this article will help convince you why we should continue engaging our neighbors door to door. If so, I hope you’ll join us this Saturday at 10:00 am in the foyer.

Begin praying as you prepare to gather with us this Sunday at 10:00 am.

Love,
