Summer Preaching Series:
Celebrating God’s Work through High Pointe
July 7 – August 4, 2024

This Sunday, July 28, Scott Cope
Every summer, we have the privilege of hearing the same gospel from different voices. This year, we have a special blessing. We have invited several men we have deployed to ministry from High Pointe. The purpose of the 2024 summer preaching series is to remember how God has worked in and through your generosity for the sake of Christ and to celebrate the gospel's advancement through those the Lord has allowed us to deploy from High Pointe.

This week, we welcome Scott Cope, lead pastor of Trinity Church in Bedford, Massachusetts. Scott served on our staff as a pastoral assistant. Scott is a faithful evangelist and an excellent preacher. He and Kate have been doing a good work in a hard place. I know you will be blessed by hearing Scott preach this Sunday morning.

On Sunday night, Scott will be with us again to give us a full report on Trinity Church, church planting in New England, and the Cope family. Our main aim for Sunday night is to help High Pointe understand the challenges and blessings of church planting from the planter’s perspective. Join us this Sunday morning and evening.
Resources of the Week
  • What My All-Star MLB Pitcher Dad Taught Me About Godly Competition – Mike McGregor
    • Involving our children in sports is good and healthy. It teaches teamwork, hard work, and competition. Still, sometimes, we can miss the point. So, in this article, Mike McGregor, son of MLB pitcher Scott McGregor, reminds us of the lessons his dad taught him about godly competition.

  • What Does the Bible Teach about Divorce and Remarriage – Jim Newheiser
    • Recently, our elders had an issues meeting to discuss the sad reality of divorce. In many cases, the issue of divorce also raises the question of remarriage. While for Christians, confession of sin, repentance, reconciliation, and restoration should be pursued, there are cases in which the Bible permits divorce. In this article, Jim Newheiser walks through what those cases are. He outlines the majority evangelical view, which is the one the elders have taken. However, in more recent times, the increasing reality of domestic abuse has raised questions about divorce and remarriage in those circumstances. Please pray for your pastors as we seek to care for every member and every marriage on a case by case basis, seeking to protect the vulnerable, pursue reconciliation, and obey Scripture.
    • You may view the Elders’ Statement on Divorce and Remarriage HERE.

  • Missions: What Kind of Members Should Churches Be Sending to the Mission Field? – Mack Stiles
    • One of our prayers is that the Lord would continue to raise up members of High Pointe to send to the mission field. We understand that we should send our best. In this article, our friend Mack Stiles reminds us of just the kind of members we should send.

Our Children’s Ministry is Recruiting!
Our children’s ministries are currently planning and preparing for the fall. Our fall kick-off date for KidsPointe, the Kids’ Life class, and the Children’s Catechism Class is August 25. New volunteers are needed at this time in all areas, including Sunday morning and Sunday evening nursery classes. Members, please contact Erin Wyman for details about serving. We will also have a recruitment table in the front foyer after morning worship, August 4 and 11. Thank you for caring for and ministering to the children of High Pointe!

Church Wide Bible Study Workshop | Saturday, August 24 | 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM

On August 24, from 9 AM to 1 PM, High Pointe will be having a church-wide Bible study workshop! The aim of this workshop is that participants would grow in their knowledge and understanding of how to both study and apply the Bible. Please note that childcare will be available for this event for children 8 months to 4 years old.  To register, click here.

The High Pointe Institute | Wednesdays, Beginning August 28
The High Pointe Institute (HPI) is a one-year (two semester) discipleship program meant to offer a pathway for growing disciples to be equipped for ministry both in the church and the world. The goal is to form mature disciples who are growing in their knowledge and love for God, who take ownership of High Pointe’s ministries and mission, and who are committed to helping others follow Christ. This program will instill a commitment to Scripture and a better grasp of the biblical storyline, a solid foundation in Christian doctrine, and an increasing ability to connect theology to one’s life, worship, and mission.

HPI is designed for growing disciples of Christ who desire to be equipped for ministry and mission in whatever context God has placed them. ALL men and women are encouraged to participate. HPI is designed with High Pointe members in mind as a preparation for service and leadership. REGISTER HERE.

T2G (Titus 2 groups) starting again in September – Sign up NOW
T2G will start up again in September. But now is the time to sign up! T2G is a discipleship ministry offering gender-specific, intergenerational community among the women of High Pointe. Each group consists of one or two “older” women meeting together with 4-6 “younger” women. The groups meet once a month to encourage women in their faith and to promote deeper relationships among the different generations of women in the church. Each leader has chosen a book that the group will read together over the course of the year (September through May). Please consider joining us for the year ahead.

For more information, please contact Mary Delk at 763-442-0919 or at marybethdelk@gmail.com. We encourage every one of our young women to be involved in T2G and we will help you find a group that works well for you.

Gospel Partner of the Month: Middle East Ministry
It is our joy to support one of our High Pointe families serving in the Middle East. We will not refer to them by name to protect their identity and location, but you may pray for them as you work through our membership directory.

Please pray that the Lord will give them favor and fruitfulness in their work. Pray that the Lord may send a like-minded and similar life-stage family (or two) to serve alongside them. And pray that we would care for and encourage them well.

Thanks for the clarification in the Missions section of the newsletter. It answered most of the questions that I had as a newer member of High Pointe.
