Welcome Guyton Garland Our Newest Pastoral Assistant
We are excited to introduce you to Guyton Garland. Guyton will serve as our pastoral assistant (PA) for membership and discipleship. The pastoral assistantship at High Pointe is a one-to-two-year administrative position for young men aspiring to pastoral ministry. They serve High Pointe, the elders, and the staff by fulfilling administrative responsibilities while also having the opportunity to be a member of a healthy church, observe elders' meetings, and observe ministry as a support staff. Guyton will officially begin on January 8. We encourage you to get to know him.
Guyton first trusted in Christ in 2009 after his father shared the gospel with him by walking through Romans. Guyton was born in Arkansas, raised in Northwest Louisiana, and spent his later high school years in Pittsburg, Texas. Through discipleship in the local church, Guyton was encouraged to pursue an education at Dallas Baptist University and began in 2018. He later received his bachelor’s degree in marketing (‘21) and MBA in Finance (‘23). Guyton is joining us from Hinson Baptist Church in Portland, Oregon where he just completed their Pastoral Residency and began his work on the Master of Divinity degree through The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. He is eagerly looking forward to joining High Pointe and getting to know fellow members.

DNOW – To the Ends of the Earth | January 12-14, 2024 | For all students 6th-12th Grades
Each year, the youth students of High Pointe and other local churches come together to draw
closer to Christ through the ministry of the Word and Christian fellowship. DNOW is a special
event where students spend the weekend sitting under the faithful preaching of the Word, are
poured into by leaders in small groups, and enjoy time together through games and meals. We
pray that the Lord will use this weekend to save students, grow their understanding of the gospel, and challenge them to live as disciples of Jesus.
This year, we will be looking at the mission God gives to his people and how he calls us to live it
out. Our guest speaker will be Drew Taylor, the Assistant Pastor of Discipleship at First Baptist
Church in Canyon, TX. He and his wife have served as missionaries in Africa and Central Asia
and currently help their church partner with missionaries across the world to see the gospel
spread and churches grow.
DNOW is for students in grades 6th -12th . You can find more information and register here. If you have any questions, please reach out to mark@highpointeaustin.org.

Giving at High Pointe
God is generous, and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God in every area of our lives, including what we do with our finances. But as you may have noticed, we do not take up a collection on Sundays at High Pointe. Consequently, we’ve been receiving questions as to how to give. There are several ways you may give:

This year, along with the beginner track, we will add an advanced track for those who were with us last year or have already begun the training. - WHO should participate in the training? If you desire to be able to encourage, comfort, and disciple your children, other believers, and family members, this training is for YOU. Not only will it equip you in the basics of discipleship, it will also equip you to walk alongside others in crisis.
- WHY should you participate in the training? We want to equip every member to understand God’s word and rightly apply it. One of our values at High Pointe is a culture of discipleship – a culture where every member is helping others follow Jesus.
- WHEN will the training take place? The training will take place over three weekends. The registration price covers all three conferences. We recommend coming to all three training sessions and pursue becoming a certified biblical counselor. We need help counseling one another at High Pointe, and you could be a vital part of our counseling team. REGISTER HERE.
