Welcome, Luke Listak New Pastoral Assistant for Music

We are excited to welcome our new pastoral assistant Luke Listak to Austin and to High Pointe. May was a busy month for Luke as he graduated from Dallas Baptist University and also married his new wife, Emily. Luke and Emily moved to Austin just last week. Luke will begin his official duties as a pastoral assistant for music on June 17.
Here is a note from Luke:
Hi! My name is Luke Listak. I was born and raised in Lake Jackson, TX. I grew up in a God-fearing household but did not come to faith in Christ until my senior year of high school. Through the words of a faithful pastor in the Dallas area, the Lord cut me to the heart, producing repentance and belief. Long before this, I had felt a tug on my life towards ministry. Once I learned a few instruments, my desire to specifically pursue music ministry increased. I decided to study Music Business at Dallas Baptist University and quickly got plugged in to First Irving. I am eternally grateful for the many ways the families and pastors of First Irving poured into me and my wife, Emily, over the past three years. I enjoy many activities such as camping, backpacking, anything sports-related, hunting, learning new songs, and eating good food. My wife and I are very excited to be joining y'all!

Here are some ways you may welcome them:
  • Introduce yourself.
  • Invite them (together and individually) to a meal, coffee, your home.
  • Set up a time to meet with Luke during office hours.
  • Ask them how you can help them in the transition.
  • Get to know Luke and Emily.
  • Show them around town.
  • Pray for them and their transition to a new place, new church, and new friends and church family.
  • Pray for Luke and his role as a pastoral assistant to grow in the understanding of his call to ministry while helping us administratively keep our music ministry organized and our volunteers informed.
  • Participate in the music and/or media ministry of High Pointe.
