Celebrating God’s Work through High Pointe
July 7 – August 4, 2024
This Sunday, August 4, Josh Hayward
Every summer, we have the privilege of hearing the same gospel from different voices. This year, we have a special blessing. We have invited several men we have deployed to ministry from High Pointe. The purpose of the 2024 summer preaching series is to remember how God has worked in and through your generosity for the sake of Christ and to celebrate the gospel's advancement through those the Lord has allowed us to deploy from High Pointe.
This week, we welcome Josh Hayward, lead pastor of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church in Austin. Josh served on our staff as an associate pastor. Josh went to Kinney Avenue several years ago to revitalize a dying church. After much work and patient ministry, the Lord has done a great work. Josh is a faithful pastor and preacher, and you will be blessed by his ministry to us on Sunday.

- Olympic Gold to Missionary Sacrifice: Eric Liddell’s Legacy at 100 – Mark Collins
- “In 2004, Chinese athlete Liu Xiang won Olympic glory for his nation as the gold medalist in the 110-meter hurdles. After his victory, he was acknowledged as the first male Chinese-born track and field Olympic champion. From the standpoint of his nationality, that may be true. If you were to go to Weifang in Shandong, however, you’d find a monument to another son of China who won track and field gold 80 years earlier. That monument marks the burial site of Eric Liddell.”
- How Hospitality Helps Evangelism – Sam Crites
- Admittedly, most of us struggle with evangelism. Why not start by inviting unbelievers into your home? In this article, Sam Crites reminds us why hospitality is important.

Church Wide Bible Study Workshop | Saturday, August 24 | 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM
On August 24, from 9 AM to 1 PM, High Pointe will be having a church-wide Bible study workshop! The aim of this workshop is that participants would grow in their knowledge and understanding of how to both study and apply the Bible. Please note that childcare will be available for this event for children 8 months to 4 years old. To register, click here.
The High Pointe Institute | Wednesdays, Beginning August 28
The High Pointe Institute (HPI) is a one-year (two semester) discipleship program meant to offer a pathway for growing disciples to be equipped for ministry both in the church and the world. The goal is to form mature disciples who are growing in their knowledge and love for God, who take ownership of High Pointe’s ministries and mission, and who are committed to helping others follow Christ. This program will instill a commitment to Scripture and a better grasp of the biblical storyline, a solid foundation in Christian doctrine, and an increasing ability to connect theology to one’s life, worship, and mission.
HPI is designed for growing disciples of Christ who desire to be equipped for ministry and mission in whatever context God has placed them. ALL men and women are encouraged to participate. HPI is designed with High Pointe members in mind as a preparation for service and leadership. REGISTER HERE.

Student Ministry Summer Calendar
Student ministry families, mark your calendar for our upcoming youth activities this summer!
Youth Activities
Sunday AM Preaching Schedule: Pray regularly for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, prepare for our gatherings by reading the sermon text, thinking it through, and asking questions about the text before Sunday. Here is our (tentative) preaching schedule designed to help you prepare for Sundays:
Gospel Partner of the Month: Predica Fiel
In our approach to missions at High Pointe, we not only seek to send our best, we also want to equip and encourage those who are already serving in the field. One of the ways to do that is to provide training for national pastors and missionaries. Predica Fiel is a training ministry that equips pastors, missionaries, and church leaders in expositional teaching and preaching. They provide training workshops throughout the island of Cuba and the Spanish-speaking world.
Please pray that the Lord will give them favor and fruitfulness in their work. Pray that the Lord would grant them continued opportunities to train pastors, missionaries, and teachers. And pray that the Lord would provide all the resources they need to do their work.
On-Call Pastor To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
