Summer Preaching at High Pointe August 6, 2023
This Sunday, Pastor Davey Davis is Preaching
It was wonderful to welcome guest preachers throughout the month of July. It is one of the highlights of summer for me, and I know it is for many of you as well. Still, there is nothing like hearing from our own pastors. This Sunday, pastor Davey Davis returns to the pulpit to conclude his series on James. Our study of James has been a blessing, and I know you will be blessed by pastor Davey’s preaching this coming Sunday.
This Sunday’s Schedule:
NO LIFE CLASSES (Classes will resume on August 27 at 9:00 am)
10:00 AM Morning Gathering
Preacher: Pastor Davey Davis
Sermon Text: James 5:19-20
Engaging Our Neighbors | THIS Saturday, August 5 at 10:00 am
Join us this Saturday in the front foyer at 10:00 am as we prepare and pray to engage our neighbors. Our mission is clear – to make disciples of all nations by going, baptizing, and teaching. How will they hear if no one preaches? The Lord has providentially placed us in a fast-growing, diverse community. Would you help us reach our neighbors with the gospel of Jesus Christ?
Pray for our Missions Team in Oaxaca, Mexico | 31 July – 07 August
Our Oaxaca Missions Team is helping support a VBS at Comunidad Gracia Redentora, along with putting on a parenting conference for families in the church. Our team is Thailynn White, Kristy Oropeza, Matthew Rolfe, Steven Cardenas, and pastor Dan Lisa.
Please pray for our endurance and energy, as well as communicating and connecting with our missionary family "The Roots". Our desire is to encourage the leaders and saints at CGR, and to minister the gospel to whoever we come in contact with.
Family Song Service | Sunday, August 20 at 5:00 PM | No Childcare
It is with mixed emotions that we send off the McAllisters to their next ministry post. To celebrate our time together, we will have a song service for the whole family on Sunday night, August 20. Normally, we meet in Life Groups during this time, but we want to have one special night of singing together on their last Sunday with us. We will have refreshments after in the fellowship hall where you will have an opportunity to share your love for the McAllisters. Make plans now to sing with us.
KidsPointe Resumes August 27!
We’re excited to kick off a new curriculum, The Gospel Story. This new study takes a detailed look at how each of the Bible stories, beginning in the Old Testament, connects to the gospel and to God’s larger plan of redemption as it answers the question, "Where is Jesus?". Each child attending during the 2023-2024 school year will need to be registered even if he/she has attended in the past. To serve in KidsPointe during this school year, please contact Erin Wyman.
High Pointe Mission Trips
In an effort to encourage missions at High Pointe, we are offering two other mission trips this year:
Would you pray about one of these trips? More information will be forthcoming, but you can prepare now by (1) securing a passport, (2) asking questions, (3) and letting us know of your interest.
Giving at High Pointe
God is generous, and so he calls us to be as well. What we do with what God has given us shows the world where our hearts are and helps proclaim the gospel. We want to glorify God in every area of our lives, including what we do with our finances. But as you may have noticed, we do not take up a collection on Sundays at High Pointe. Consequently, we’ve been receiving questions as to how to give. There are several ways you may give:
If you have any questions, go to this LINK. Our financial staff is also available to help or answer your questions. You may call the church office at 512-837-7725.
On-Call Pastor
To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
Preaching Schedule: Pray regularly for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, prepare for our gatherings by reading the sermon text, thinking it through, and asking questions about the text before Sunday. Here is a preaching schedule designed to help you prepare for Sundays:
06 August | pastor Davey Davis, James 5:19-20
13 August | pastor Brady Bowman, John 15:1-11
20 August | pastor Juan, Romans 9:24-29
