The School of Grace (Titus 2:11-15)
We don’t often think of God’s grace teaching or training us to live lives worthy of our calling, but that’s how Paul explains to Titus that God’s saving grace also transforms us. God’s grace appeared in the person of Jesus Christ who gave himself for us to redeem us from all lawlessness and to purify for himself a people of his own possession eager to do his will. And Christ will appear again in glory!
God’s grace gives us hope and gives us help!
We are in this school of grace together. And grace has a name; the name is Jesus Christ. We might even think of him as our lifetime coach or trainer in becoming more like him by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Jesus came to break the chains of sin, pay our debts, and set us free to live lives of self-control, right relationships, and godliness. And we’re not in this school alone. We are in it together.
When we live together differently in godly ways, we are a compelling community to some around us.
We don’t shame one another; we encourage one another. There are no holiness competitions. Instead, we’ve got one another’s backs as we pray and remind one another that though sin is still present, it has no power over us. In Christ, we can choose to say, “No" to ungodliness and the worldly passions that wage war against our souls (I Peter 2:11). With the help of Jesus, we can say, “Yes” to godliness.

Key Discipleship lessons…in the School of Grace
- Redemption and Purpose: We belong to Christ, bought with a price and freed to live differently. Freedom from Sin: In Christ, we're liberated from both sin's penalty and its power.
- A Spiritual Growth Mindset: Focus on progress, not perfection.
- New Identity: Sin's presence doesn't equate to its control over those in Christ.
- Spiritual Disciplines: The Scriptures and Holy Spirit train us in saying "No" to ungodliness and "Yes" to godliness.
- Christ-likeness: Our goal is to live and love more like Jesus daily.
- Christ-centered: Jesus is our teacher, growth plan, and ultimate goal.
It’s a joy to be in Christ’s school together.

Gospel Partner of the Month: 9Marks
9Marks helps pastors, future pastors, and church members see what a biblical church looks like, and to take practical steps for becoming one. 9Marks aims to see churches characterized by nine biblical marks of a healthy church. Why these nine? Because sadly, they’re too often assumed or ignored in evangelical churches.
On-Call Pastor: To better care for you, High Pointe, we have an “on-call” pastor available for emergencies after office hours and on weekends. To reach the on-call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1.
