Summer Preaching Series: Celebrating God’s Work through High Pointe July 7 – August 4, 2024

This Sunday, July 21, Marshall Canales
Every summer, we have the privilege of hearing the same gospel from different voices. This year, we have a special blessing. We have invited several men we have deployed to ministry from High Pointe. The purpose of the 2024 summer preaching series is to remember how God has worked in and through your generosity for the sake of Christ and to celebrate the gospel's advancement through those the Lord has allowed us to deploy from High Pointe.

This week, we welcome Marshall Canales, lead pastor of Emmaus Church in Georgetown. Marshall served on our staff as an associate pastor. It will be a joy to hear from Marshall and receive a brief report on how Emmaus is doing.
July 28
Scott Cope – former pastoral assistant
Scott serves as the lead pastor of Trinity Church in Bedford, Massachusetts.
August 4
Josh Hayward – former associate pastor
Josh serves as the lead pastor of Kinney Avenue Baptist Church in Austin.
Our Children’s Ministry is Recruiting!
Our children’s ministries are currently planning and preparing for the fall. Our fall kick-off date for KidsPointe, the Kids’ Life class, and the Children’s Catechism Class is August 25. New volunteers are needed at this time in all areas, including Sunday morning and Sunday evening nursery classes. Members, please contact Erin Wyman for details about serving. We will also have a recruitment table in the front foyer after morning worship, August 4 and 11. Thank you for caring for and ministering to the children of High Pointe!

The High Pointe Institute | Wednesdays, Beginning August 28
The High Pointe Institute (HPI) is a one-year (two semester) discipleship program meant to offer a pathway for growing disciples to be equipped for ministry both in the church and the world. The goal is to form mature disciples who are growing in their knowledge and love for God, who take ownership of High Pointe’s ministries and mission, and who are committed to helping others follow Christ. This program will instill a commitment to Scripture and a better grasp of the biblical storyline, a solid foundation in Christian doctrine, and an increasing ability to connect theology to one’s life, worship, and mission.

HPI is designed for growing disciples of Christ who desire to be equipped for ministry and mission in whatever context God has placed them. ALL men and women are encouraged to participate. HPI is designed with High Pointe members in mind as a preparation for service and leadership. REGISTER HERE.

T2G (Titus 2 groups) starting again in September – Sign up NOW
T2G will start up again in September. But now is the time to sign up! T2G is a discipleship ministry offering gender-specific, intergenerational community among the women of High Pointe. Each group consists of one or two “older” women meeting together with 4-6 “younger” women. The groups meet once a month to encourage women in their faith and to promote deeper relationships among the different generations of women in the church. Each leader has chosen a book that the group will read together over the course of the year (September through May). Please consider joining us for the year ahead.

For more information, please contact Mary Delk at 763-442-0919 or at marybethdelk@gmail.com. We encourage every one of our young women to be involved in T2G and we will help you find a group that works well for you.

Gospel Partner of the Month: Middle East Ministry
It is our joy to support one of our High Pointe families serving in the Middle East. We will not refer to them by name to protect their identity and location, but you may pray for them as you work through our membership directory.

Please pray that the Lord will give them favor and fruitfulness in their work. Pray that the Lord may send a like-minded and similar life-stage family (or two) to serve alongside them. And pray that we would care for and encourage them well.

Resources of the Week
  • Pursue Wandering Sheep – Jeff Lacine
    • Too many Christians are confused about the purpose of church discipline. In once sense, we should be encouraging one another as we live life together. That includes loving correction and rebuke when appropriate. Still, some Christians struggle with the final formal step of church discipline – excommunication (removal from membership). In this brief article, pastor Jeff Lacine reminds us, as we say at High Pointe, church discipline is a rescue operation. Therefore, we are to pursue wandering sheep.

Begin praying as you prepare to gather with us this Sunday at 10:00 am.
Love,
