ADVENT 2022 First Sunday of Advent | November 27, 2022
ADVENT 2022
Sunday, November 27, is the first Sunday of Advent. Advent is the season, beginning the fourth Sunday before Christmas when we look back at Jesus’s first coming (advent) to prepare us for his second coming (advent).
There are various ways you can learn about the comings of Jesus during this season: lighting of advent candles, reading books about advent, reading the biblical accounts of Jesus’s first and second coming, and, of course, singing songs and hymns about Jesus’s comings. At High Pointe, we’ve begun a tradition where the first Sunday of Advent we have an ALL FAMILY Advent sing along (no nursery or catechism class). Would you make plans now to join us? Sunday, November 27, at 5:00 pm.
Life Classes
Life Classes have resumed. If you’ve missed Life Classes, it's OK. Make plans now to attend at 9:00 am. More information HERE.
Children’s Catechism Class | 2nd and 4th Sunday Evenings
Our children’s catechism class, for ages 3 years through 5th grade, takes place on 2nd and 4th Sunday nights. We will all gather at 5:00 pm in the auditorium to sing together. Then, the children and teachers are dismissed. This is a wonderful opportunity for families with young children to help your children store a wealth of Scripture and doctrine.
On Call Pastor
In an effort to better care for High Pointe, we have begun to identify an “on-call” pastor. The purpose of the on-call pastor is to have a pastor available for emergencies outside of office hours. We will announce each week who the on-call pastor is for the coming week and put it in the service order card and in this e-news. To reach the on call pastor, call 512-837-7725, extension 1. Here is the upcoming schedule:
Preaching Schedule: We encourage you to pray regularly for the ministry of the Word at High Pointe. Also, prepare for our gatherings by reading the sermon text, thinking it through, and asking questions about the text before Sunday. Parents, this is a helpful way to prepare your family for Sunday mornings. Here is a preaching schedule designed to help you prepare for Sundays:
20 November God Has Spoken: The Power of the Word in the Life of the Church
1 Corinthians 1:18-2:5
27 November Going Public: Baptism in the Life of the Church
